#GivingTuesday: Building a Just Society takes all of us!

I was in an abusive marriage, I have a 7 year old girl, and just got a TRO from the court. I was hopeless, didn't know what to do or what I should do. I didn't have any resources to get out of that divorce and felt like I was about to lose everything. Sometimes I wanted to get in a car accident or just fall asleep and never wake up.

Legal Aid helped me fill out all the divorce forms. Let me know what is the next step, listened to me, gave me emotional support, contacted my ex-husband and talked about divorce matters, gave me very important information, and gave me suggestions about my rental, job, kids care, answered every phone call, and very patiently answered my question or concern.

Because of Legal Aid's help, I find myself again, with more confidence to take care of my kid, and I feel happy. I feel there is hope and life is worth fighting for.

I want people to know that Legal Aid is a real place that helps people, to save them from a difficult situation. Those workers there are very friendly and very helpful . . . I love them and I consider they are my family.

Legal Aid gives help to people in crisis. They are often the most vulnerable, the most disadvantaged. Legal Aid gives a voice for others that don't have the power to speak for themselves. To learn more about the importance of getting civil legal help, please visit
